There are different flavours of SSODS. They differ in the hardware they support. SSODS is prepared to run on Diskstations (SSODS), on TurboStations (SSOTS) and the eTRAYz (SSOEZ). Since SSODS only relies on Linux 2.6.x it should also run on any other (Linux based) device with a compatible CPU with little to no change to the configuration files and/or scripts. A 500 MHz arm CPU with 128 MB RAM will be just enough to run Squeezebox Server. 256 MB and some more MHz are recommended. See the forums (links here) for discussions and other’s opinions.
The following list shows which hardware should be able to run SSODS.
Note: YMMV, errors excepted and that it is far from complete (it probably lacks everything that came out in 2009 and later).
- Freescale MPC8543 based devices (SSODS 4.x: ppc)
- 800 MHz / 512 MB: DS-408, DS-508, DS-209+
- Marvell Orion and Kirkwood based devices (SSODS 4.x: arm, or oldarm)
- 1200 MHz / 512 MB: TS-219
- 1200 MHz / 128 MB: DS-109 (?)
- 500 MHz / 512 MB: TS-409II, TS-409U
- 500 MHz / 256 MB: TS-409, TS-209II, TS-109II
- 500 MHz / 128 MB: CS-407, RS-407, DS-107+.128, DS-207+, TS-209, TS-109, Xtreamer eTRAYz
- 500 MHz / 64 MB: DS-107+
- untested: SheevaPlug, Kurobox Pro, D-Link DNS-323, HP mv2120/mv5020/mv5100
- Freescale MPC8245 based devices (SSODS 4.x: not supported, SSODS 3.x ppc may work)
- 400 MHz / 128 MB: CS-406, RS-406
- 266 MHz / 128 MB: DS-107.128, DS-207, DS-106X

- XScale FWIXP420BB based devices (SSODS: not supported)
- 266 MHz / 64 MB: DS-101
- 266 MHz / 32 MB: DS-101j
- Intel x86 based devices (SSODS 4.x: i386)
- 1600 MHz / 1024 MB: TS-509
- untested but should work: probably any x86 based PC running probably any Linux
